TAA to TAE RPL Upgrade Process Explained

First, let's find out what core and elective units you hold in your TAA qualification.

The old TAA qualification involved 12 core units and 2 electives.  Your TAA to TAE upgrade process will depend on what elective units you currently hold.  In order to find out what units of competency you currently hold in your TAA qualification please refer to your certificate.  You will find the list of the units either:

If you cannot find this list, contact the provider who issued the certificate.

This list is an essential part of the actual certificate.  We must receive it as part of your certified copy of the certificate in order to be able to process your TAA to TAE rpl upgrade application.  This means that if the list of units is not clearly printed on your certificate, you must arrange for the list of units to also be certified.

If you are unsure about how this TAA to TAE information applies to you, send us a copy of your qualification for a free evaluation.

The TAA to TAE upgrade process -- what we need
In order to upgrade your TAA to TAE we need to collect certain evidence. We have streamlined this process as much as possible while maintaining the integrity of the TAE qualification.
It is essential that the upgrade process be conducted ethically and responsibly. Not doing so is bad for the industry, bad for you, and bad for the community that we are serving.
We know that the RPL TAA to TAE upgrade process will be closely scrutinized by the authorities, therefore we strongly advise you to refrain from opting for "cheap and easy" solutions.

Evidence Required for Core Units

In addition to the certified copy of your TAA certificate and list of units, we need to address a recognised gap.

To fill this gap we need to receive one assessment instrument that you are currently using.  Ideally it should be one that you made yourself.

However, we understand that, due to workplace requirements you may be using Assessment instruments provided by your employer.

If you are unable to provide an assessment instrument, please mention this in your application for TAA to TAE upgrade.

Evidence of Currency

If your TAA certificate is more than 3 years old, we will need evidence of currency. This can be a letter from your current employer outlining your duties.

Evidence Required for Elective Units
As mentioned above the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment has three elective units.

1 We will need a supervisor or employer (who holds a TAA or TAE) to provide a letter stating that you are competent in making a presentation.
(Please note the words "making a presentation", as this is RPL for the unit "Make a Presentation", and it is not a "delivery" unit.
Please make sure that your letter includes these words, as it will assist us when preparing your RPL portfolio.)

2 Completed Feedback Forms from at least two learners to whom you have presented.

There is no additional cost for this unit.

Please make sure to include the list of units attained if they do not clearly appear on your certificate

Depending on the electives you completed for the TAA, you may be eligible for RPL for another elective. For example, many students are eligible for
  • TAEDEL301 Provide work skill instruction

    or

  • TAELLN401 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills.
If you are applying for RPL for this unit, you will need to demonstrate that you are aware of the change from the NRS to the ACSF

There is no additional cost for electives obtained through direct credit.
